Stormy skies over Ohinemutu Cemetery


Last weekend on our road trip through Rotorua we stopped at the Ohinemutu Cemetery - a very respected resting place for soldiers who served in the 28th (Maori) Battalion during the 2nd World War. Such a peaceful spot but I was disappointed to see the shores of the lake polluted with rubbish  here and there - sad that people can't dispose of their leftovers the right way.

Nice photo of a worthy monument. Leaving trash is kind of a worldwide thing I am afraid. My dad was a forest ranger and woe to any of us kids who littered.

A great photo of a beautiful place, Amy. It seems that a bag to pick up rubbish is a necessary part of every walk these days, no matter where you go. So annoying!

  Photo taken Spring 2024 in Auckland We have been invited to a family reunion in June 2026 which will be held in Auckland so I'm looking forward to catching up with relatives that I haven't seen in over 10 years.  This week we have: Had a good chat with a friend who has also adopted a rescue dog - must arrange a play date. I've bought some non alcoholic liqueurs to mix up for mocktails which have been very nice as I don't really drink. We had a massive wind storm 2 days ago, we were ok but a good friend who lives 20 minutes away had a bolt of lightning strike her house, the result was a blown up power box inside and part of her kitchen got burned, she had to call out the fire brigade to put it out. Hail

  Spring is throwing out some strange weather right now. We don't get snow where we live but it is visible on some of the mountains around us over Winter. Last week around 4.30am we had a very loud thunderstorm with hail. It wasn't until an hour or so later my daughter said this is what she saw out on our deck.  Clumps of hail all over the deck and on her hand. Apparently various other suburbs around town got it too.
