Stormy view over Port of Tauranga


Since we've moved over to Mount Maunganui I've been wanting to walk along the walkway/cycleway of the harbour bridge to take a photo of the Port of Tauranga.  Finally a couple of weeks ago after a stormy weekend I bit the bullet and got it done.

In the distance you can see the Mount, on the left is part of the port with a small number of containers only in view (it literally goes for quite some distance) and on the right is the Tauranga Marina. Still in Spring here with an equal number of rainy and sunny days.

Thanks to all for well wishes while I've been sick, I hope I literally never have to go through that again. I feel like I'm on the mend :-)

Nice scene, I really like this and I agree with the other comments that the photo has a moody feel to it. Glad to hear you're on the road to recovery. Being sick is not fun.

  Photo taken Spring 2024 in Auckland We have been invited to a family reunion in June 2026 which will be held in Auckland so I'm looking forward to catching up with relatives that I haven't seen in over 10 years.  This week we have: Had a good chat with a friend who has also adopted a rescue dog - must arrange a play date. I've bought some non alcoholic liqueurs to mix up for mocktails which have been very nice as I don't really drink. We had a massive wind storm 2 days ago, we were ok but a good friend who lives 20 minutes away had a bolt of lightning strike her house, the result was a blown up power box inside and part of her kitchen got burned, she had to call out the fire brigade to put it out. Hail

  Spring is throwing out some strange weather right now. We don't get snow where we live but it is visible on some of the mountains around us over Winter. Last week around 4.30am we had a very loud thunderstorm with hail. It wasn't until an hour or so later my daughter said this is what she saw out on our deck.  Clumps of hail all over the deck and on her hand. Apparently various other suburbs around town got it too.
