Storms

We've just had 2 days of storms here, (this photo was taken the day before) so has the rest of the country and it's been warmer than usual. Last week my daughter and I made use of the one local laundromats in town (I think we have 2 or 3 - not sure) and took one of our duvet inners in as our washing machine isn't big enough to take it. While we were there I was amazed to see how popular these places are, seems to alot of people who don't have washing machines.

When you think about it, a washing machine is a big investment...

Looks deserted probably because of the storm forecast.
Is that the roundabout in Tainui street? The town has changed a lot since I lived there. Looks like a good west coast downpour was on the way :)

There used to be loads of laundromats around but now I don't know of one. They were a favourite haunt for students.

The laundromats here are mainly for yachties and tourists. There are 3 laundromats on an island with a population of 4,000....but 10,000 in the summer. I take our winter blankets for washing and any big covers. Theyre not automatic. You take your washing in and pick it up 2 hours later. And its not cheap either

It's good that people are staying in during the storm. Stay safe!
The sky does look like a storm is coming
A stormy-looking sky. Stay safe!

Yep, the home washers we buy here would be overleaded with a duvet so we take them to the cleaners.

Back in the day when I worked summers as an oilfield roustabout I spent hours in laundromats. Hated it.
