I've been going through my photos from an overseas trip to Fiji about 5 years ago and came across this one taken in the town of Sigatoka. The town now would have an approximate population of over 20,000 people and has a long history of settlement dating back to 1000 BCE when indigenous tribal chiefs occupied the area.

Love the colours they use to paint buildings

I spent a couple of days in Suva in May 1987 but sadly I don't have any pictures and I don't remember it very well. There was a coups d'état.

Looks nice and summery compared to the grey Swedish November fog outside my windows just now!

Fiji I thought is a bit of a dirty country. When we were there we saw rubbish littered everywhere, animals roaming wild including doing their business all over the beach, no coral in the ocean and the water wasn't that clean. It's a shame that considering it's s tourist destination, they don't look after it more.
