I found this mural last week in our local town square, not sure who painted it, could be artist Mark Haldane but it depicts an old house in the bush, very reminiscent of West Coast historical miner's hut.
The explanation about the new blog name is based on one of my favourite songs - Blue Day by a band named Mi-Sex who were well known in New Zealand during the late 1970s and early 1980s in which the lead singer is named Steve Gilpin. Well thanks to the wonders of DNA and family tree research has shown me I am related to him on my father's side, so there you go.
Linking up with Monday Murals.

What a wonderful mural. We'll done to the painter. And the photographer 😁
...nice find.
When the world goes crazy there’s always someone who thinks of attacking the Jews. Such an unspeakable action. Of course in the US we think the Australians are more civilized than we are, but we have to learn the limits of humanity over and over.
Great find, that's a really nice mural.
I'd never heard of Mi-Sex or Blue Day, but it's a nice song.
Nice mural. And bad news. I´ll never understand why one would attack Jewish people - or anybody!
Stolen our house name - it's going to ne the colour of that wall on the right and based on the style of those original colonial cottages.
Nice mural, certainly very country like. It's certainly awful what happened in Sydney. Australia is not known for massacres like in the USA, so hope this type of attack doesn't happen again. Thanks for participating in Monday Murals Amy. I also investigate my family tree but have found no famous singers :)
Feels as if you are in the countryside. Thanks for participating in Monday Murals Amy. I also research my family tree but haven't found a famous musician yet :)
