About 45 minutes drive from Greymouth is the Fox River which flows from the Paparoa Ranges through the National Park to the Tasman Sea. This area has different nature walks which are probably for the more intermediate to advanced hikers as there are caves and limestone gorges.
B and I are not hikers, we do not have any hiking or safety gear so we only walked for about half an hour. The whole hike I think is about 7 hours long and there is a DOC (department of conservation) hut at some point for people to stay in. This part was down by the carpark. The river water is fresh down from the mountains and then runs out to the ocean nearby.

Lovely hike/walk.I always enjoy walking along a river. (Sometimes I say we've been on a hike, but according to your definition I definitely mean walk. Our only gear is decent outdoor walking shoes (not hiking boots). I own a walking stick that we bought from a beach vendor in Mexico, but I never use it. (It's a decorative piece for me!).
That was a lovely half hour walk. And that cool river to paddle and rest. Wonderful landscape
What a beautiful landscape. I like the trail, looks like a nice walk.
A lovely West Coast escape. Hope the rain comes soon.
West Coast bush and rivers are wonderful even in a dry season
Nice area you were at! 24 is a bit cold, though. Here not much better. 29 max....
Although I'm not much of a hiker myself, I'd love to take a look around there sometime. It looks truly beautiful.
We saw footage of the flooding on the North Island on TV.
...Amy, this looks like a lovely destination, I would visit it often.
The forests are so beautiful. Rain would be helpful to them for sure!
What a wonderful place! Have a nice day!
What a beautiful place for a walk. That water looks very inviting.
A most beautiful place for a serene walk. Wow.
Thank you for joining the Happy Tuesday Blog Hop.
Have a fabulous Happy Tuesday. ♥
What a gorgeous spot!
Even a short stroll looks rewarding with the river and bush, and that cool water looks perfect on a hot day.
Fingers crossed you get a bit of rain soon to freshen things up.
A perfect West Coast summer’s day at the Fox River: cool mountain water at your feet, heat in the air, and that quiet tension between drought on your side and floods elsewhere in New Zealand
