Intersection

I was going through some old photos earlier this week and found some from a small town in the north island named Waihi (pronounced Why hee). This would've been taken when I stopped here on the way to meet B for the first time just over 10 years ago on our first date and as I was driving down from where I lived, I saw lines of classic cars driving along the main state highway and in this town.

Shortly after this I discovered that one of my ancestors on my father's side had worked at the mine nearby as a mercury miner and unsurprisingly he died at the age of 50. Waihi is one of my favourite historical places.

Old photos are full of surprises. It's even fun to sort through old blog posts with old photo souvenirs.

Sounds like you have good memories from there.
Waihi, and that classic car, both look stunning. I love a nice vintage look. I've been working on somebody's kitchen this week that wants the mid-century modern look and it's been so fun bringing their classic, vintage vision to life.

one of my neighbours recently acquired a pig-dog from Waihi - seemed an awfully long way to go for a rejected dog.
