Intersection

I was going through some old photos earlier this week and found some from a small town in the north island named Waihi (pronounced Why hee). This would've been taken when I stopped here on the way to meet B for the first time just over 10 years ago on our first date and as I was driving down from where I lived, I saw lines of classic cars driving along the main state highway and in this town.

Shortly after this I discovered that one of my ancestors on my father's side had worked at the mine nearby as a mercury miner and unsurprisingly he died at the age of 50. Waihi is one of my favourite historical places.

Red

There's a local man who owns this vintage car and he regularly drives it around town, I think he's looked after it very well.

Big blue car

Photo taken outside my work

I quite often see vintage cars around town and in fact there are car shows that the owners get together and host once in a while, last one I attended was a gold coin entry last Autumn.

Green

Love it when I see old cars in town - this one I spotted outside my old work last week when we picked up our food shopping. We usually buy groceries through the click and collect service - we order everything online through their website then pick it up the next day and it means we save money by not going into the store and buying unnecessary things. Photo taken just before I walked through someone's cloud of cigarette smoking causing me to cough - ewwww. btw guess who got a letter calling for jury service?

Nights are starting to cool down here a bit, Autumn will be here in March. We don't watch alot of tv, most of it is rubbish but I do have a few favourite channels on youtube that I follow:

The mindful narrowboat

Nicole White mudlark

Sergio and Rhoda in Israel.

I think I would rather learn than watch mindless entertainment.

Old cars at Matakohe

On Saturday the youngest and I headed out the 40 minute drive to Matakohe where the museum there was having a "Settler's Day". The museum is all about showing off our region's kauri gum history including information about the first people to settle there, the machinery they used, their houses and how they lived.

One thing that was highlighted there was local people bought their old cars to show off and these photos are just some of the ones we looked at.

I'm not particularly interested in new cars these days but I do love old vintage and retro cars, they're really something different.

I quite like the little blue one, what do you think?

Pink

I spotted this display in our local Mitre 10 hardware store. While I love the idea of gumboots (as well call them) for women, I'm not ...
