Warning!

It's amazing how many tourists go for swims at beaches when they have no idea about them. The West Coast is well known for rough wild scenery so you literally don't swim here as there are many rips and surf like waves. I hope this sign is read by everyone.

Linking up with Skywatch Friday and Tom's Signs.

Many people think they know better than to adhere to warning signs.

Great sign

It is remarkable how often visitors underestimate such coasts, and your observation underscores the importance of clear warnings, as unfamiliar waters can be far more dangerous than they appear.

I love the look of those beaches but often wondered if anyone actually went swimming. They really do look wild. And beautiful

People swim here at the less wild beaches but it's very rare that sharks come in close to the tide.

Ignoring signs seems to be common everywhere, which is a real problem!

Id be reluctant to swim at most West Coast beaches. It always seems too rough - weather from right across the Tasman

As a child I spent a lot of time at a beach with a rip current warning. I was a very good swimmer and knew to swim parallel to the shore but thankfully I was never tested by a strong current.

In water-rich Netherlands, the water is only rough during storms and rough seas. But there are still too many people (including refugees and other immigrants) who cannot swim, causing them to drown relatively frequently even in calm water.

Better people follow this. It's same situation here in india as well

We have a lot of blue skies lately too.

Maybe local administration has to write signs in other languages too :-)

Even "tame" beaches like the ones we go on the US Gulf coast can have tides and currents that could get one in trouble. Best to be aware!!

I spotted this display in our local Mitre 10 hardware store. While I love the idea of gumboots (as well call them) for women, I'm not ...
