Patient

A few things going on this week....I managed to finally see one of the public health nurses at the hospital for my annual flu vaccination which has helped so much over the last 3 years since I've been getting it. The above photo is only of a small section where I was waiting, the main reception area and lifts/stairs etc are around the corner to the left.

I'm one of those people who doesn't get seriously ill, apart from the odd sinus infection or mild flu. But we are coming into the Winter season in June when hospitals here will be inundated with sick people as seeing a doctor is too expensive in some places. Here on the West Coast we pay a small amount but in some of the larger cities it can be over $50 and not everyone can afford it so I consider myself to be pretty fortunate that I can.

Where I live the local hospital is very modern and only a few years old but in a lot of other places in New Zealand the hospitals are barely run by tight constraints, under funding, under staffed and they sorely need upgrading and renovating as most were built in the 1950s and 1960s.

Linking up with Weekend Reflections, Shadow Shot Sunday and The Weekend Roundup.

I've never liked hospitals or flu shots. Thankfully I haven't needed either one for severals years.

That seems to be health systems all over. They are expected to achieve so much more now than when first planned/built/financed.

Yes, we seem to be okay with wasting money but less keen to fun necessities that benefit all. #Weekendreflection

NZ doesn't pay health staff well either

Glad you have access to good, affordable medical care. So important!

I pay less than $40 for the doctor so that's not too bad. I worked in the old hospital so interested to see the new one when I come over later in the month.

For the first time in many years I didn't have a flu shot last winter.. I don't often get ill and sailed through the cold days.
Still I think I'll have the shot next year.
Our smaller rural hospitals are better run than the city ones. We are lucky too

The state of healthcare in the Netherlands is not much better. Pressure on the healthcare system is growing, while staff are poorly paid and there is a shortage of personnel.

...my goal this year is not to be a patent in the hospital.

I´m glad that you got the flu vaccination and that you live on the right spot on the island when it comes to what it costs. Since I´m one of those who can get really ill I get shots for both flu and covid for free every year. And the same goes for all people over the age of 65 in all parts of Sweden.

Health care here in the US is outrageously expensive. I'm lucky to have very good insurance. I get my flu shot every year as we head into fall.

We don't have to pay to see a doctor here. I got the flu, covid, rsv, & pneumonia shots this year and haven't been sick. Knock on wood. ;-)

Good that this new hospital is live to where you live and you got the flu injection. I hope you have a great week ahead.

I get my flu shot at the local pharmacy, thank goodness, the hospital is somewhere I avoid, if I can. Because I have a chronic disease, my shot is free.

I am glad I (hopefully soon again) work from home and don´t need the vacc. Also hopefully Summer is on the way.

I can get flu shots and several other innoculations, if desired, at a local pharmacy. The less time I am in the hospital for tests or other reasons, the better.

Healthcare is getting more costly in Finland day by day. Not good for those less fortuned.

Its good to stay fully vaccinated. I don't talk about it much because for some reason it has become a political topic for some reason.

I keep on whatever vaccines are available! Your photo looks so much like the medical offices here, right down to the paint color! Maybe there's some study that shows green helps us in some way. Thank you for joining in with the shadows.
