The Northcote Tavern is a building that as a teenager I use to walk past sometimes - one of my best friends when I was at high school use to live not far from here so we spent many weekends hanging around the area.
It was originally known as the North Auckland and Ferry Hotel built by immigrant Philip Callan in the 1850s from from bricks that he made at the nearby Sulphur Beach. The original hotel burned down in 1884 and the current building is what stands today.

It's a handsome building. It seems to be timber but with fake quoin? stones at the corners. I wonder how original they are
What a beautiful building. Surely something to cherish, it seems to me.
I like the style.
...I love its details!

A beauty with sweet memories. Have you been inside?
A very attractive building and nice memories for you. Enjoy the rest of the week.
That’s a great bit of history! Amazing how places we once walked past as teens can later feel like landmarks with stories to tell.
Awesome building.
