Fun Fungi

This morning B and I were out looking for Fungi. April is the perfect time to search and we found some beauties.

This one and the one below it are a poisonous toadstool named "Fly Agaric". We walked around in roughly 11 degree celsius temperatures so not too bad.

All of the others are a mix that we saw along the trail which was about 30 mins there and back.

Fungi at Moana

Autumn is the best season here to see different types of Fungi. B and I drove out to Moana last week and completed a 30 minute bush walk.  I think this one above is called Velvet Foot aka F. Velutipes.

Orange pore fungus aka F. Calocera and is the same below.

This white one is Bird's Nest Fungi aka N. Niveotomentosa.

This little Piwakawaka aka Fantail followed us around on the way back - they are very curious birds.

Native fungi common throughout the Tasman area aka Gloeoporus Plebophorus.

Sometimes we get the little blue Fungi on bush walks but the last time we saw those was at the Arnold Dam River Walk in 2024.

Toadstool love!

On my last visit to McLaren Falls I was sitting in the yellow leaves on the ground enjoying the colours around me and the cooler temperatures when I spied this wee toadstool on the ground near a picnic bench. Very obviously a poisonous pretty thing I couldn't help but take a photo of it's lumps and bumps and vibrant red coat. I just love to photograph unusual things :-)
