Old Kaeo shack

 Sometimes on my travels into different towns I see farm sheds that are falling apart or dilipated shacks. This one is along a dirt road full of pot holes, I wouldn't say there are alot of houses in this part, more like farms and dwellings people have put together to save money. I suspect the one on the left was a type of garage and the one on the right maybe a small house? Thoughts?

I'm sorry I haven't visited much this week, we were looking in car yards last week for a car I could upgrade mine too and the salesman had a head cold, so we have all been down with it. It was our first day of Winter on the 1st June - we tend to get alot of sunny days and cold nights so expect alot more skies like this over the next 3 months.

A horse is a horse...

I quite often take my camera out with me when I drive around town and today I stopped at a farm I was visiting where the owner was telling me about her horse. Apparently the horse isn't far off giving birth to her first foal. I didn't know this before but apparently horses are pregnant for about 11-12 months, way longer than us humans and the owner said to me that once the waters break labour lasts for about another 30 minutes then it's all over.

I can't wait to see the new edition next time I'm there.

Visiting a best friend at Tihoi

Today we drove nearly 2 hours to visit one of my best friends who lives out at Tihoi (pronounced tee-hoy), she lives on a farm but has decided to sell it and move closer to the city.

Our ultimate goal was to help her sort out what she needed and didn't need so after the teens and both the other half and myself shifting bits and pieces around in the garage we set off inside to fill up rubbish bags.

The neat thing about her farm is that it's so quiet, it's about 20 minutes drive from Taupo. Happy chickens, happy dogs and a happy horse.

 

My daughter is a horse fan so after a bit of teamwork between her brother and herself she was off for a short ride.

A farm scene worth remembering.....

Last weekend on our camping/wedding excursion to Hamilton, this was part of the view we saw from our caravan in the middle of the paddock. A farm tractor, cows in the background enjoying munching the grass - this is the sort of scenery I feel comfortable in. After living in a small rural town in Northland, NZ for 8 years this is something I'm use to....hope you have a great weekend :-)
