Rain

I think every person in New Zealand is looking forward to Summer. Last year over Spring it rained just about every day. This year we've had big dumps of rain at least once a week. Roll on warmer weather.

Halloween has come and gone here, we usually don't have trick or treaters as we live just out of town so it was a very quiet night.

Evening

This was taken last week outside my work. A quiet Winters night. The last 2 nights we've had temperatures down to - 1 at night. Yesterday morning I started work at 7am - my daughter and I had to pour a bucket of cold water on my car windscreen and scrape ice off but today we have lovely fine sunny weather.

This was the ice on our deck outside this morning. I ventured out in my slippers and heard the ice crunching under my feet.

Dragonfly Cafe

 

While shopping for bathroom products this week at a cheaper place than the supermarket we had to dodge the late Autumn rate to get to the car. This car above displaying signage for the Dragonfly Cafe is one I see around town regularly, apparently they are caterers.

B and I are finalizing plans to spend a week in Auckland in the first week of November as my oldest son and his partner have announced they are expecting their first baby aka my first grandchild in October. We are planning to fly up and stay just north of the city in the same town my grandparents use to live in - lots of good memories of them will most likely come up while we are there.

What to do in Mangawhai on winter days

It's been so stormy and mucky here that we've virtually been stuck inside. Today at last the rain stopped and the teens and I were able to drive down to Mangawhai village for a visit to Bennetts Chocolatier. Each season they change their displays and they have some lovely chocolate for sale. We like the 2nds box!

Calm after the storm - love these gray skies and damp days of winter

So, here are our skies here in Mangawhai today - calm after the storm more like. After 2 days of torrential rain & wind i can quite confidently say that I'm sure our tank has alot more water in it. Not sure if there's more on the way at some point but don't think I'd turn it down. Unfortunately I've been struck down with a mean as flu so I've been stuck in bed trying to get better.

At last a storm here in Mangawhai!

These were the skies outside my house this morning. We've been anxiously awaiting some rain here to fill up the tanks and finally we got some. It wasn't as much as I would've liked but it's better than nothing. I'm hoping to get more tonight!

Streets of Queenstown on a freezing rainy day

One of my favourite shots from our trip to Queenstown last year as we were wandeirng around the streets in town exploring some of the shops. This one is down by the waterfront but despite the temperatures it's one of the places here in New Zealand I love to visit. I miss it!!!

Emirates Team NZ - Saturday Racing!

Talk about nerve wracking! Watching Emirates Team NZ racing this morning while outside it's windy and raining - storm is here - arggghhhhh!
